Martin Torbet, Autumn 2007 notes: EE CAEN HV supply /HV distribution crate setup ==================================== - Connect "Gen" on CAEN to the "Trip" and "Reset" inputs on HV distribution crate - Connect "Interlock" on CAEN to "HVon" on HV distribution crate - Set CAEN switches as follows: NIM/TTL -> TTL Enable -> Loc Enable Interlock -> closed - Insert 50 ohm terminator in "HVEN" on back of HV card in CAEN - HV distribution crate clamps when "Gen" is off Turning "Gen" on resets the HV distribution crate (ie clears all error indications) - To change "Gen" from CAEN front panel: - select "utility->status" from Menu - toggle "Always" as needed - select "OK" You need to login with admin status to do this - Changing channel settings: - "Main -> Channels" creates list of channels - "Tab" key moves between menu bar and channel list - Cursor keys move around display - to change alphanumeric item, type in new value then 'enter' - to change toggle value, press space - On prototype HV distribution crate: - Lemo on wire at front panel of control card provides fixed 5V output, plug into "trip" input to run HV distribution crate without CAEN control connections - Switch, on wires (inside crate to left of input card), is to simulate interlocks on front and rear panels. (No interlock switches are installed) - Note that current monitor outputs on HV distribution crate have an offset which is significant if trying to measure very small currents (~2mV = 200nA). However nA currents can be measured if this is taken into account.
