Dave,
Olivier,
The work that
Alexander did for us did not include all the things I had looked for in EE/358
(copy attached). I sketchily wrote up what he had done in EE/445 (copy
attached). Although Alexander kindly provided macros so that others could
continue what he had started, the required extra effort was never found. The
"missing" parts were
* case 3, 4, 5 and
6: to check the effects of transport shock loads and braking during transport.
Assumes the maximum shock load is 0.35g but that braking can exert 1g
horizontally.
* check for loss of
crystal clearance in all load cases
* a write-up from
Alexander of the work.
We need to assess
the need for this work against other tasks that Olivier might have in mind and
against the available time. I suspect that Alexander could polish off the work
above fairly rapidly given the excellent foundations he laid previously but I am
not sure if he can do it with the PC hardware he has in Russia.
We do not yet have
any sort of model of the OPAL frames.
Cheers -
Justin.
