Integration of Unix and NT

Unix is a widely-used operating system in Particle Physics but NT is growing fast. Most institutes, groups and even users will probably use both at some time. Therefore it is not sensible to run the two separately. Each has its own strengths so I recommend that you use whichever is best for a particular purpose. This page describes the interfaces between unix and NT  which exist and suggests ways in which they can be used to integrate services across both operating systems.

Among the areas of potential integration are:

Some of the issues covered here were described in a talk on Unix/NT Integration at the HEPNT workshop at CERN in December 1998.
