The aims of the HEPNT HTASC sub-group
HEPNT is...
- A small closed group of active HEP Windows NT service providers
- A central point for exchange of information on the use of Windows NT in HEP
- aiming to coordinate activities to enable interworking between HEP sites
- aiming to coordinate activities to enable interworking between NT and UNIX (this task is
shared with HEPiX)
- aiming to recommend HEP standards only where necessary
HEPNT is not...
- the source of all knowledge on Windows NT!
- a 'solution provider'
- able to carry out extensive investigations of products
- able to develop new software packages
- aiming to standardise the desktop (Microsoft defines the 'look and feel')
- going to recommend specific products, except where necessary for compatability
