The justification is given below. Cheers Mark _________________________ CDF Request for UK Grid Resources --------------------------------- After several years of development, CDF has now ported its analysis and MC generation framework to utilise LCG resources and "LCGCAFs" are now active in Italy and Spain. Initial testing of LCGCAFs is also proceeding at UCL and Liverpool and we would like to utilise Tier-2 LCG resources (ideally at Liverpool and UCL) for CDF MC generation and data analysis. We also request modest resources at RAL to coordinate and serve data to Tier-2 sites. CDF now has close to 2fb-1 of integrated luminosity which is expected to double in the next 18 months. As such the demand for MC and data analysis resources will increase and the CDF computing model is based on the majority of this increase coming from non-Fermilab Grid resources. The UK is now also connected via the UK/StarLight optical link to FNAL and data transfers of 500 MBit/sec are now possible to UCL. The coupling of this bandwidth to Tier-2 sites is a priority for CDF-UK and we request the computing resources to contribute to CDF'S global computing need and to exploit the FNAL optical link. ______________________
