An Introduction to the Big Bang

It is believed that at the beginning of time there was a massive explosion inwhich matter and anti-matter were given out, and this is what formed theuniverse. Since then molecules have been formed and simulations of the big bangon a much smaller scale enable us to learn about what happened.

Exploring the origins of the universe

Scientists are now trying to discover and confirm exactly whathappened at the start of time. In order to do this scientists must use the largeElectron-Position collider(LEP) to help reveal how the matter from the big bangdeveloped into what makes up the universe today. These scientists-many from theU.K.-are explorers, trying to extend our knowledge of the past and answer thequestion: Where do we come from?
