The Frontier Physics For Teachers series of workshops focus primarily on the research fields of particle physics and cosmology.  Other areas, such as astrophysics and medical physics, have also been covered.

The aims of the workshops are two-fold. Firstly, to provide physics teachers with some of the necessary knowledge to be able to teach 'A' level modules containing particle physics and cosmology. Secondly, for teachers already comfortable with these subjects, to provide more in-depth information and contact with researchers active in these fields.

The weekend workshops are held at The Cosener's House in Abingdon and usually commence on the Friday evening and finish at about 4pm on the Sunday afternoon. All accommodation and meals are provided for the weekend. Numbers are normally restricted to 30-40 teachers.

Funding for the workshops has been provided by the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. A small contribution of £25 is usually requested from each participant, but this can be waived in special cases.
