FRONTIER PHYSICS FOR TEACHERS 1997

This workshop was supported by a PPARC PUST award and concentrated on particle physics and some of its applications in medical imaging. We were particularly lucky to have Dr. Dimitris Visvikis (Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre, Cambridge) and Prof. Peter Wells(Bristol General Hospital) as external speakers who explained the intricacies of  exploiting PET and NMR techniques in medicine.

A total of 38 teachers attended from 28 different schools drawn from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire with particpants from as far afield as Eton, Salisbury and Trowbridge.

The lectures were highly rated with the majority of talks scoring over 80% on the workshop questionnaire and with one even rated at 94.8%!
